Quote:Linda, please get rid of the chip on your shoulder, it's getting boring now. You're European yourself and only bringing down the side, so leave it out!

A forum is to share opinions, my opinions, not to keep you interested.

You haven't suffered from the racism that you think is "boring", so you can't tell me to get rid of the "chip", the "chip will stay there, in this forum at least, till people understand how racist they can pass (even if non-intentionally).

Plus, I just asked if you were -expectedly- referring to another "superior" western thing. And you didn't disappoint me Smile

Quote:And why not? The tests are the hardest in the world to pass! Most people here wouldn't even get through the theory.

That is a bold statement, and very arguable. A point worth mentioning is that if the local driving licenses were that skill-loose, then they wouldn't be acknowledged by the International Car Club, or the police in Europe, but they are.

Anyway, I think that tests have little to do with it. No matter how hard the tests are, people will eventually pass. What you have to ensure, is that people maintain the level of skill they displayed at the test, in everyday driving.

Europe has stricter rules, that much is true, whether it's outrageous fines, or license "points" ....etc. Plus, in a lot of the European countries, owning a car (in the presence of the extensive public transport/metro/train/ system, and the astronomical price of gasoline) is a luxury. You won't find a 17 year old strolling around in a Porsche or a Corvette, or even a Mustang, unless his father was a billionaire.

Of course over here it's different (Like I pointed out before). The population are rich, and young. That's a deadly mixture. And then there are the lack of "strict" rules.

I'm sure that if the police dept in Brisbane installs a "points" system like in most Europe. Everyone will stick to the rules.

But it had little to do with inherent driving skills.
