Just wondering if I get work in Australia (I'm American), can my dad get a visa to live with me while he is there if he is not working there?

Yes , you need to sponser him.

No you cannot sponser a sibling or parent.

Well he can get temporary like 3 months visa as my pop is sponsering moi. Ask the ministry for more info.

Yeah that he can get, but not a resident visa...

Your dad is in Brisbane?

In case your gross salary is above 4K AUD, you can sponsor your dad for a 1 month visit visa only.

However, in case your dad is old and needs assistance, there is a provision to sponsor a resident visa on special approval from the emmigration dept.
