Q's
#1
hi there...
I need the following info :
1) Can an expat holding a resident visa in Australia enter Doha-Qatar and vice versa? Do they need a permission from their sponser? Will a Australia driving license be valid in qatar?
2) If a road trip is to be taken from brisbane to doha-qatar..is it possible? is the road safe? any complications?

1-yes, Sponsor ?? not really sure, yes all GCC liscs are valid in GCC countries.
2- yeah it is safe and after u are on the AUH-Qatar highway all the trucks are in slow lane (Australia law ) so worries abt beign hit by an18-wheeler.
Comlications - u need to issue a visa for Saudi as u will be passing their border before entering Qatar - a very political issue i do not wish to discuss on the forum ..
Make sure who ever is ur sponsor is (in Qatar - the guy issuing ur visa) has faxed a copy at the Qatari border ( be it the hotel u are staying at or the company inviting u )
take care adn have nice journey
cheers Al :)

my bad ... i thought u were asking abt the road trip...
yeah u need a visa to enter Qatar, even if u have a resident visa of Australia.
if going by road -- need to get a Saudi Visa ,,, as the only way to Qatar is via Saudi and they require u to issue a vsa even though it is justa transit (dont ask ) !!
ny more ques ,,just holler ,,,
cheers Al :)

yeah you do need a visa for both qatar and saudi but the qatar one since you are a resident of a gcc country it will be provided to you at the border itself about the saudi one im not too sure i guess it works the same though ull have to check on it

and if you are planning to drive there in your own car then you should take an insurance policy that covers all the AGCC countries otherwise they want allow you to enter at the border with unless u take the insurance for that country at the border itself dont know how much is it in qatar but in oman they charge u about 75AUD extra
