In a word NO! You're always going to hurt the other persons feelings if you want to end a relationship. Just think carefully about how you do it, and for goodness sake avoid the cheesy cliches of:

'It's not you it's me'
We can still be friends'
'I'm not ready for commitment'
Blah blah blah etc etc etc
