Resume with Picture?
#1
Is it good or bad to put a picture in a resume?

#2
Hi Seeker,

If you were applying in Europe it would depend entirely up to you. But since Brisbane is an image orientated city (for what I've been advised) you should definately endorse a photo with you Curriculum Vitae.
:?

I am not so keen on this, however, as skills could often be forgotten or left on the side for appearence.

All the best in your hunt!

The answer is only important when you ask the right question.

Thanks for the advice buka.

no picture but make sure they know your origin.
Live life to the full, you probably won't even remember it.

"no picture but make sure they know your origin."

hi SkierAl! Do they have prefered origin?

#6
my two cents..... are you an attractive person? if so throw in a picture.

Good luck in your search.

LOL. Sad but true. I would have to agree with jacky...

I read about 30 - 50 resumes a week.

'Good' (ie appropriate) pictures are a +

'Bad' pictures are a -

No picture is an =

.... so if you're photograph shows you clean shaven and looking like you're 23 years old, and you're applying for a senior management position - either find a better photograph or don't include it.

.... or if you're applying to be a junior clerk, but you look like you're overweight and 50 years old, that's another occasion when you shouldn't include a picture

Hopefully you'll have an image which is 'right' for a CV. Preferably not a passport photograph (looks too formal generally) but you should certainly have a 'clean' background. Use photoshop if necessary.

Although it is wrong to discriminate on age / sex / race / appearance it is also a (sad?) fact that many people judge on first appearances. And you can't exactly put a photograph at the end of your CV!

So if you can make a good impression, take advantage of the opportunity!
