Need help obtaining information about life in Brisbane, Plzz - shadi - 04-27-2005

I am a qualified engineer living in the UK, myself and my family (wife and 2 boys) are planning to move to Brisbane in the next year. i would like help in obtaining as much information as i can about Schools, Jobs, where to live, etc,,,

I would also like to meet anyone who has the experience of living and working in Brisbane.

My advice is as a starting point buy a Brisbane Explorer book, now in its 9th edition and a Zappy explorer. Stacks of info in them. We haven't moved yet but will be soon!

On Schooling
The info below is based to a 7 year old.

500AUDm for Entry Test
upon acceptance...you pay
2500AUDm for Admission Fee.
1000AUDm for insurance incase you son decides to eat the library book for lunch.
7000AUDm for 1 term (4months) payable in post dated cheques.

Be warn...kids will love the school life here..but not the parents.

There is way more holidays then actual school days.

I believe more then 155days in a year is a no school day.

Its really weird.
