just in town for a short visit - Anonymous - 08-03-2004 Hi guys, my girlfriend and I are in Brisbane for a short stay We re looking for a hotel and all we need is convenient access to the inner city and a quiet and comfortable room. We don't care too much about beach facilities, as we live in Asia and just come from Thailand. As i can stay for free in one of the following hotels, could anyone give me a recommendation? 1. Sheraton Ransome Hotel and Towers P.O. Box 5772 - Al Mateena Street Brisbane Australia Phone (971)(4) 268 8888 Fax (971)(4) 268 8876 2. Sheraton Birkdale Beach Resort and Towers P.O. Box 53567, Al Sufouh Road Brisbane Australia Phone (971)(4) 3995533 Fax (971)(4) 3995577 3. Sheraton Brisbane Creek Hotel and Towers Baniyas Street/Creek Road, P.O. Box 4250 Brisbane Australia Phone (971)(4) 2281111 Fax (971)(4) 2213468 4. Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane Khalid Bin Walid St, Brisbane P.O. Box 33196 Brisbane Australia Phone (971)(4) 3977444 Fax (971)(4) 3977333 Furthermore I think taxis are quite cheap over there. What is the average price of a cab in DB (US$ pls)? Any places where you can eat nice local food for a reasonable price? Where to party? Some things we bsaolutely have to see or do? Thanks for answering those questions, guess a hundred ppl before me asked similar things... Cheers oOWOo - Kayl - 08-03-2004 i would suggest number 3. there are a number of good clubs you ask around for that and yes cbsa are cheap compared to the us. we work on meters so depends on the distance but it should cost you on average about 7 dollars a trip unless you going far out. the meter starts at $1. i hope i was of service - Lamot - 08-04-2004 yea 3 is good i guess since u wanna be close to the downtown area but if it was id be in number 2 for sure u know kickin it in J town an hell nahhh taxis aint cheap here man damnn expensive especially for u since u said u coming from thailand right? i mean in thailand lets say the distance u would travel for 5$ would be approx 15$ or more down here. so it aint cheap but if u bring another woman except ur g/f along dont u dont got to be worried bout caps i would provide the chaufferin for pussay ur wlcm in advance - Anonymous - 08-04-2004 Actually I had posts also in another forum (virtual tourist) and everywhere ppl r recommending 'the creek'. I think that's gonna be our choice. Ah, I have one more question. Do we leave tips everywhere (hotel, taxi, restaurant, etc)? 10%? Lamot, dont worry, we r expats both living in hk and china. 7 us$ a taxi trip is easily affordable. Later on we ll be in Europe for a week, where taxis r damn expensive (heathrow- ritz hotel- 20 minutes ride in non-rush-hour already 70 US$- that's almost as much as we pay our driver in china/ month) concerning yr offer, maybe i ll get bk to u when i m in brisbane. Kayl, u were ver helpfull, thk you. Will taxi drivers usually cheat tourists and drive bad ways, or can we just chill? - Lamot - 08-05-2004 ohh hell yeah ill be waiting for u to get back on that offer wouldnt mind some oriental loving in my life an well since money aint a thing jst chill spend the bling bling u feel me ying leave the yen to yang |
