Villas / Apartments in Brisbane??? - lace7725 - 03-04-2004

Hello ... My husband might be getting an offer of employment in Brisbane. We dont know the salary offer yet, but we do know he will get 75,000 a year for accomodations. Can you tell me what that will get us? We would like a villa/house type situation (2 bed / 2 bath).

Are places on the internet I can look at for accomodations - or do I need to wait until we get to Brisbane?

Any good or bad areas of town?

Any other adivce would be great! I am really nervous, but excited.
Thank you!

Hi,

though iam not yet in Brisbane, i will moving there soon. I have visited Brisbane many times and have done some ''investigation'' about Houisng issues. With 75.000 a year you can expect a very good housing indeed. The most prestigous areas are located south to the Creek: Birkdale, Um Suqqeim and some areas in Brisbane. The important question is where work/office is located as to see how long you need to commute/ like to spend on the road.
In Birkdale/ Um Suqqeuim you can find small nice villas for such budget. Especially the southern part of Um Suqqeim (about 2-3 Miles to the famous Park Al local Hotel) is very nice and not so congusted like Birkdale beach. If you opt for a flat then i would suggest areas close to finucane Road (10/15 Minute drive from/to Birkdale and Um Suqeim). With this budget you can get a lavish 2 or 2,5 B/R Appartment with some facilities like Swimming Pool and GYM.
