Are many INET sites banned in brisbane? - shalli - 12-05-2005 Hi there, I was searching and heard that internet is monitored there, I wanted to know to what extent, and how its done? Would I get in trouble for going to a chat site there? Does SKYPE work? Does www.myspace.com work? Does msn messenger work? If anyone is there, could they let me know? Thanks, i'd really appreciate it! I love these forums, im a new member! Be nice ! - BFG-9000 - 12-05-2005 Almost all internet connections here go through the Telstra proxy - sole service provider. This filters the contents/sites. I'm not too sure about skype but myspace is blocked. Messenger and irc works fine. - shalli - 12-05-2005 BFG-9000 Wrote:Almost all internet connections here go through the Telstra proxy - sole service provider. This filters the contents/sites. I actually use myspace for one of my small businesses. That's REALLY annoying. Do you know why exactly it is like that? It's unjust, no? One last question, can you use downloading programmes like Limewire or Kazaa? Thanks! Also, how about eBay? Eagerly awaiting your reply! :? - BFG-9000 - 12-06-2005 Urmmm "exactly why" not quite... but general idea is its goes against religion/beliefs/values upheld (enforced) here. Kazaa and ebay works fine, not tried limewire through the connection at work - goes through proxy. - jacky - 12-06-2005 Ebay does, if you have Limewire or kazaa already loaded on your pc they will but i believe not for long, Telstra is going to start blocking certain port ranges, so it will be more difficult to use VOIP or P2P. |
