Speed vs Traffic - hosrom_951 - 11-28-2005 Hello everyone, I just read Australia news paper today, as of 27th November, and i have a few things to say and i hope i get a lot of responses (good or bad) on this issue. Apparently everyone believes that speed kills, that is incorrect Apparently, people who do eventually speed down the roads, drive cars that are not built for handling such speeds (140+kpr) Apparently, people who do have the cars that are built for speeds (BMW's, VW, Porsche, Mercedes, high-end Toyota's and Lexus etc) fail to check the vehicles tires, tire pressure, fluids, brakes and so on. Those three reasons are all the main issue of why there are so many high-speed crashes here in the city of Brisbane. With the exception of just carless drivers/rubber neckers, i want to just point something out. I have lived in Brisbane for 20+ years, i visited Germany (step-father is German) and you will be so suprised on their laws/regulations. They have no speed limits on the Autobahan, i personally was travelling on speeds over 220+kpr with my step-father. Other cars were overtaking us at those speeds, but the issue is that they are very sensible and you will rarely find an accident on the highway..... Remember, speed doesn't kill, it is the comination of a careless driver, in a low-performance car/high-performance yet badly cared for car. I wish to see just how many of you are with/again my views, or just you're general responses. TIA - BFG-9000 - 11-28-2005 Lesser accidents on Autobahn cause even though people drive at warp speed they exercise due care, courtesy and caution. You don't see retards in a sunny/civic/echo/etc or big suburbans hogging the 'fast' lane proclaiming his/her ownership of the road. - hosrom_951 - 11-28-2005 Again, very true.... We could be suffering from having too many retards here......LOL Anyways, this point was covered in the first post, when people speed or exceed the limit of the cars that were not built for such abuse in the first place. - BFG-9000 - 11-28-2005 hosrom_951 Wrote:We could be suffering from having too many retards here......LOL You might be on to something there That said you may have missed my point - add "driver attitude" as another posibility. - hosrom_951 - 11-28-2005 I don't want to go there.........that's a new topic all by itself...... - constantine - 11-28-2005 Think i'll stick to taking cbsa...toooo much hassle...have to take test/fail/test/fail/...buy a car...get on the road..get bumped...WTF??...lol...stick to me cbsa...can get pissed on friday nights easier...just disgrunted... :? - hosrom_951 - 11-28-2005 Cad drivers piss the heck out of me......... A small handfull of them are great, but the majority are just pathetic. They drive as if they are racing, don't care if they exceed the limit (even though the alarm goes on from the meter), squeeze in and out of traffic like their car is a Mini....... Sorry.......... - constantine - 11-28-2005 when i was there...no problem...i am yet to live there...so i guess i will get my fairshare... - Brisbane - 11-28-2005 This really should be in the auto forum... That being said, I was cruising along at 140 yesterday and there was a Lada blocking me on the fast lane... He was going 70!!!!! MORON!!!! I am renting an Echo now so I am not really one to talk but at least I was doing the limit... - BFG-9000 - 11-28-2005 Almost as good as the chick in front of me on finucane road at around 5:30pm. Cut across into the fast lane doing 100 and didn't get the ol' pug moving much faster than that. I had 2 guys flashing me from behind so I gave her a flicker and got the lovely middle digit salute. Had a chuckle. - yurki500 - 11-28-2005 I will not respond to this topic, otherwise I will be on my "high-chair" all night. Needless to say, a good majority of the drivers here are utter wankers! Ooooooooooooooo, actually, perhaps it is me that is the wanker and the way people drive here is the norm! hahahahahaha - hosrom_951 - 11-28-2005 Driving 140kpr on Al Khail road this evening, when a Corolla decided to stick to my rear and give me light..... Just floored it for a couple of seconds, got him off my back.......didn't even have to downshift to 5th gear. He never did that same move for as long as i could see him....... Goodness.......140+ in a corolla? death wish if you ask me - Brisbane - 12-01-2005 Corolla's can do 140kph... C'mon... I do it in the rental Civic all the time, and did it quite often in the rental Escort... - Snype - 12-01-2005 Brisbane Wrote:This really should be in the auto forum...
