Rock Bottom or Jimmy Dix??? - Trinny - 10-25-2005

Well I prefer the band in jimmy's - rock bottom is always packed. i can't wait to have a good boogie again after Easter.

Neither! Both hideous hang outs for drunk expats. Plus Rock Bottoms always seems to have a group of American guys who think they're homies from da hood.

Anyone in this country who acts like "homies from da hood" I find to be quite hilarious. No one who is from the hood is really happy to be there. Especially the ones who walk around with that look straight from any mass produced rap video, commercialism is an ugly thing sometimes.

Whats wrong with drunk expats....

"I'm not an alcoholic, I'm a drunk"

The differnce, alcoholics have a problem drunks have fun.

jimmy dix will b the place 1 'l b

- Choko - 10-27-2005

That's where you're wrong. Drunks only think they're having fun as they only see through their beer goggles they're actually irritating as hell, I hate drunk people.

And I don't like this philosophy where some people can't go out without drinking, I'm usually sober as heck and still have a good time, I think anyone that requires alcohol to have a good time is incredibly sad.

- Barzie - 10-29-2005

If you hate drunk people why go to a bar.....Duh!

Hypocrisy- "I want to go to a place where the alcohol consupmtion is the main activity but I hate drunks..."

- Choko - 10-29-2005

Hmm you missed the point, there's plenty of 'nice' bars where people go to have a sociable drink with friends without getting leathered everytime. Where does it ever say that consuming alcohol is compulsory in a bar?

There are some places I really like because of the atmosphere, with nice surroundings and the people are great, where I can have a decent glass of wine and a nice night out with friends.

Where as necking bullfrogs and test tubes all night is clearly your thing, it's not mine, so I don't go to these places.

My point was that in places like the two mentioned above, the sole purpose of the people who go there is to get wasted, I don't like wasted people so I won't go to places like that, but prefer those establisments where people don't go to get out their head.

- Barzie - 10-29-2005

Well my point is that these two establishments, although not up there as my favourites are probably the best two in Brisbane for live bands. Every club/pub in Brisbane has its fair share of assholes and prostitutes. One thing I do like about these two places is their strict but fair entry policy. It doesnt discriminate against race or the usual couples only crap. They do restrict the entry to regulars only....which is good.

Anyways my main point is that people find it easy to critice places and people on this forum. There arent too many posts/threads about good places they have enjoyed or........I like these two establishments for what they are. They are not meant to be classy.

To answer Trinny's orginal question. I prefer Rock Bottom although it does go through up and down phases. Usually depending on the band. If they got a really good band on, the regular old timers come out of the woodwork and its a really good night.

Trinny havent been for a while. PM when your heading down, Ill join you for a boogie Tongue

- Choko - 10-30-2005

The bands are pretty good I have to admit.
