Planning for Shanghai - sa4877 - 09-28-2005 Hi guys, Am planning to make a trip to Shanghai next week. Is there anyone on this forum from that part of the world? Was just wunnering..... if you could advice on the do's and don'ts. I will be going on work and will be there for 3 days. Is there anything that is a must do or must visit? Anything that will help me to plan better. Let me know. - CheckShoo - 09-28-2005 beautiful girls there ... you must try the dumplings there SHANGHAIED! - Brisbaneonmymind - 09-29-2005 be sure to visit Cloud 9! it's at the top of the Jin Mao Tower in Pu Dong....unbelievable views, great (but expensive) drinks, very cool ambience. it's amazing to see and the Hyatt Hotel, which is also in the Jin Mao is quite a sight! other great bar's include Blue Frog (both on Tong Ren Lu and Mao Ming Lu) and the swanky 'Long Bar'. I can't say enough about Shanghai, it has the same buzz and feeling of growth tha Brisbane has, but on a hugely magnified scale! also be sure to ride the MAGLEV in from the airport....it's cheap and it's an experience unto it's own HAPPY TRAVELS! - jacky - 09-29-2005 I was in Shanghai for a couple days last month, check out an area call Xting Tin Di, it is a whole bunch of bars outside, and gets pretty jumping after 12:30am Also if you can check out the french quarter, amazing archeticuture and some great places to eat/drink A Rolex will run you $7 as well - mr moods - 10-11-2005 Just got bak from China..all i gotta say is EXCHANGE YOUR MONEY HERE N GET YOURSELF A DAMN TOUR GUIDE!!!! .. - sa4877 - 10-13-2005 Hi guys, Just got back from ShangHai..... was a mixed experience.... spent most of the time playing 'dumb charades'. Those guys could understnad a thing I said. Thanks jacky... I did go down to Xing Tian Di (or whatever). very cool place.... lovely bars/pubs... very english look and feel. There were 2 guys playing jazz around the corner. Awesome!!. Lovely architecture in some places.... went down to Nanjing Road..... Beijing Road. The flip side..... the taxi guys are an extension of the mafia (talk about Brisbane Transport!!).... every other guy on the street thinks I am looking out for a screw (vely goo syneese laly.... vely goo massage.... with six!!!) or a fake lolex or mon bunk. (BTW... I did buy one fake Mont Blanc for about AUDms 5!!! lol.). thanx guys for all the tips.... CheckShoo... did not try out the dumplings..... stayed away for Chinese food completely!!!!. Was a little scared about what i had heard. The only consolation was McDonalds and Pizza hut!. :-) |
