DOES SOMEONE KNOW HOW TO CONFIGURE PTT FEATURE ON A MPHONE? - panaghoy - 07-31-2005 I ALREADY ASKED Telstra ABT THIS... BUT TO NO AVAIL, I DIDNT GET ANY GOOD ANSWER... ALL THEY SAY IS THAT THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING THE SERVICE. AS FAR AS I KNOW PTT SHOULD WORK AS A 2-WAY RADIO. ALL I NEED TO DO IS GET THE CORRECT FREQUENCY AND CONFIGURATION... AM I THINKING CORRECTLY?? PLEASE HELP! - sleepless.in.brisbane - 07-31-2005 I don't know (yet) about Telstra's services, but I do know that PTT is a PROVIDER-based service. I.E it has nothing to do with frequencies, the 1-10second chats are sent via GSM (Telstra) when you hold a button down, and then when you let go of the button the phone goes into "receive" mode so you can get a reply from the person you chatted with earlier. All in all, your phone turns into a walky-talky, BUT the talks are sent through GSM and NOT through radio.. If Telstra doesnt support the service, then there's nothing you can do.. Hope that helped... - panaghoy - 07-31-2005 thanks for the response! so radio frequency is out of the topic ... how about VoIP? I heard that i can connect through an IP... only if i have the right configuration. Did someone actually tried PTT? i think the infrastructure is present, i just need to find out how? - sleepless.in.brisbane - 07-31-2005 quite simply, Telstra is not gonna allow VoIP through GSM or GPRS because by doing so you are gonna call much less and thus pay them less by getting a lower phone bill.. You need to call them and ask, but I doubt they will allow you to use VoIP or PTT Good luck! |
