I have lived some years in Paris and I experimented several aggressions and harassments coming from a certain part of second and third generation of immigrants coming from Africa, mainly from Maghreb (past french colonies). I moved to Sweden, partly because of this, and now the same problem is developping here was well. I gave up fighting through political engagement and debate because when you start criticizing an ethnic minority you are immediatly called rascist, and take the risk to be even more aggressed. So now I'm considering moving to Brisbane. But that would be useless if the same problem exists here as well. That's why I'm asking you, are there some ethnic minorities in Brisbane that show an unusual level of violence compared to other communities of the same level of life? Do some communities express a particular oppression toward women who choose to live free, without veil and equal to men?
Call me rascist if you want, but I just can't take this anymore.
Thank you
Hello caroline.

Brisbane is a pretty nice place when it all boils down. We have many minorities here but they are usually more than happy to be friendly or they stick to their own.

I was also worried when i moved down here because i used to live in a large aboriginal community and put up with a lot of racism towards me and my friends.

There should not be much of a problem living here though, its a really nice place.

Thank you Tasemu, no rascism, no sexism and no violence, that would feel too wonderful to be true Smile
Everywhere has its up's and down's. I feel that here you will meet many nice people. We all look out for our mates. ^^
It's just like anywhere else in the world, you'll find people who are racist and people who aren't.
