Amateur music
#1
Here's something that's bugging me.... back in the UK there were many pubs and clubs showcasing amateur musicians - bands playing different types of music for (almost) peanuts. Here in Brisbane every band is pro and there seems to be a secret clique to stop any amateur bands from getting gigs. I've been playing amateur music for years now and would like to get up and play in front of a live audience only all I get is stone walls and misinformation. What's the secret, guys? - and why? Brisbane is a big place and there's plenty of room for all of us.

Hi GraemeSP!
Hmmm.. You have an interesting question
What kind of music do you play and on which instrument?
Maybe its better to find some guys and create an amateur band and then they ll treat you like a group not separate person.
Im supporting you in this undertaking and if you ll invite me i ll come to your first concert Smile Agreed?
Good luck!

I've been playing for years too and nobody wants to hire me.
I think there is some kind of mafia here. I'm a professional player not some kind of newbie or amature. I played Diablo I and II, Baldurs Gate, all Warcrafts, Star Craft, Brood War and many more and noone wants to hire me.
I think this is unfair. I would play even for peanuts. Smile
