I don't know (yet) about Telstra's services, but I do know that PTT is a PROVIDER-based service. I.E it has nothing to do with frequencies, the 1-10second chats are sent via GSM (Telstra) when you hold a button down, and then when you let go of the button the phone goes into "receive" mode so you can get a reply from the person you chatted with earlier. All in all, your phone turns into a walky-talky, BUT the talks are sent through GSM and NOT through radio.. If Telstra doesnt support the service, then there's nothing you can do.. Hope that helped...

thanks for the response! so radio frequency is out of the topic ... how about VoIP? I heard that i can connect through an IP... only if i have the right configuration. Did someone actually tried PTT? i think the infrastructure is present, i just need to find out how?

quite simply, Telstra is not gonna allow VoIP through GSM or GPRS because by doing so you are gonna call much less and thus pay them less by getting a lower phone bill.. You need to call them and ask, but I doubt they will allow you to use VoIP or PTT Good luck!
